Women's Basketball downed by #25 Indiana Tech

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's basketball hosted #25 Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon for a critical WHAC contest. The Cardinals fought hard throughout the game, but Indiana Tech pulled away for a 61-34 win.

Taylor Leatherman led the team with 9 points. Abby Long and Julia Hirt tied for second with 7 points apiece. Ellie Kallner had a team-high 7 rebounds.

 

Taylor Leatherman made a jump shot for Concordia's first basket. Abby Long drained a 3-pointer and free throws from Leatherman and Julia Hirt gave the Cardinals a 10-5 lead. Indiana Tech countered with a 7-0 run, but Chloe Bisballe tied the match again with a layup. CUAA trailed 17-12 after the first quarter.

Julia Hirt drilled a triple early in the second quarter. Abby Long drove to the hoop and Taylor Leatherman added a basket in the paint. However, the Warriors were able to extend their lead and CUAA trailed 31-21 at halftime.

 

Ellery Baker scored inside to start the third quarter. Julia Hirt and Alexx Braddock drained free throws, but Indiana Tech continued to clamp down defensively. Taylor Leatherman converted a layup off a feed from Ellery Baker, but CUAA trailed 42-28 after the third quarter.

Maren McCallister made a layup with Ellie Kallner assisting in the fourth quarter. Emily McCalla drained a pair of free throws and Mckenzie Maciejewski added a layup in the final seconds. However, Indiana Tech took the 61-34 win.

 

Concordia will remain at home to host rival Siena Heights this Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
