(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals women's bowling team is set for the final Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match of the 2021-22 season as they travel to the WHAC Championship in Fort Wayne, IN on Saturday.

About the Cardinals

After the four WHAC Jamborees, this season the Cardinals sit in fifth place with 32 points while also averaging 6206.5 pins per Jamboree. Concordia has seen consistency in the WHAC events this season as they have finished in fifth place at each event this season. 

 

Leading the Cardinal bowlers are Gabriella Van Horn, who has bowled in 15 games, with 2628 pins for a 175.20 average, Shannon Geiger, with 14 games, and 2496 pins for a 178.29 average, Isabell Cooley, with 11 games, and 1863 pins for a 169.36 average, Emilee Hughes, bowling 13 games and knocking down 2296pins for a 176.6 average. 

 

Other bowlers for the Cardinals are Alyvia Hock as she has bowled in 8 games, knocking down 1293 pins and a 161.63 average, Amanda Fisher bowling in 7 games with 1107 pins recorded a 158.14 average, Arielle Oakley (881 pins, 6 games), Emma Price (609, 4), Emily Morris (182, 1) and Tori Vanderkuur (170, 1).

 

WHAC Preview

Indiana Tech has grabbed two first-place finishes at the WHAC Jamborees this season, winning the first two of the season. They are second in total pinfalls with 6828.25 pins as they have received 67 pins. Lawrence Tech is narrowly behind them with 65 points, but ahead of them in pins, knocking down 6836.75 pins on average. In third is Madonna (56 points), Lourdes (36), Concordia, Siena Heights (23), UM-Dearborn (14), Aquinas (13), Cleary (12), and Cornerstone (6).

 

Leading the Conference individually is Marissa Carey from Indiana Tech as she has knocked down a total of 3256 pins in the 16 games bowled with an average of 203.5. Rounding out the top five is Morgan Nunn (3129 pins), Ashley Everett from Madonna (3231), Lauren Prebelich from Lawrence Tech (3006), and Victoria Giardina from Lawrence Tech (2973).

 

WHAC History

Indiana Tech won the most recent WHAC Championship last season after topping reigning champion Lawrence Tech in bracket play by a score of 3-0. The Cardinals have won the tournament twice in WHAC history as they did back in 2015 and 2019. Concordia also has one regular-season championship back in 2014.
