(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia Cardinals women's golf team traveled to Augusta, MI over the last two days to compete at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Preview. The Cardinals went up against nine other teams throughout the two-day tournament.
The first round of play featured stroke play which would later determine the seeding for the remaining two rounds.
The Cardinals golfers were not eligible for a team score due to only having two golfers at the event. Amelia Black was the top golfer for the Cards as she carded a score of 115. Rachel Yuhas was the other golfer from Concordia as she recorded a 121 for her score.
The first round of match play saw the Cardinals face off against the Grey Wolves of Lourdes. Overall CUAA dropped the match 5-0 but were able to come within a few scores in their two matches. In the second round of match play, Concordia faced off against Rochester which saw them drop the match by a score of 2-1.
The University of Northwestern Ohio was atop of the leaderboard throughout stroke play which also gave them the top seed heading into match play. As a team, the Racers shot for a score of 317 which was good enough for a +29 and five shots better than the second-place Saints of Aquinas.
Individually Kim Siercks, from Indiana Tech, led the way for the tournament as she tallied a score of 75 which was three shots better than the second-place golfer.
The Cardinals will have just about a week off before traveling to Sylvania, OH to compete at the second Lourdes Invitational of the fall on Monday, October 11.
