Women's Golf opens at Lourdes Invitational

(Ottawa Lake, MI) - The Cardinals Women's Golf team opened the 2022-23 fall season on Wednesday as they traveled just south to The Legacy Golf Club for their first match of the year. 

 

Five Cardinals competed at the Invitational, which was hosted by Lourdes as Callie Wabeke, Lilly Alaspa, Rachel Yuhas, Amelia Black, and Claire McMaster all hit the links earlier today. 

 

Callie Wabeke posted the top score on the team for Concordia which was also tied for 18th at the Invite with a round score of 91. Lilly Alaspa finished second on the team with a 97 and tied for 34th overall. The 97 was also a low score for her career as a Cardinal. 

 

Rachel Yuhas was the next top finisher for the Cardinals coming in 41st with a score of 101, while Amelia Black shot a 109 round. Claire McMaster was the final Cardinal to finish out her round as she ended with a 201. 

 

The team of Wabeke, Alaspa, Yuhas, and Black ended up cracking the top-10 record book as they posted a team score of 398, which is the sixth lowest score posted by a Cardinal team. 

 

Winning the tournament as a team was Alma College posting a team score of 334, with the individual winner also coming from Alma as Morgan Yates posted a score of 68 which ended as 4-under par. 

 

The Cardinals will next be in action, next week when they host the Cardinal Classic on Monday and Tuesday with rounds on both days starting at 9 am. Monday will consist of 36 holes, while Tuesday is scheduled for 18.
