Women's Hockey drops series to Lake Superior State

(Ann, Arbor, MI) - The Concordia University Women's Hockey team headed back onto the ice last week as they faced off against Lake Superior State University with two home games. 

 

Game 1 -- Lake Superior 5, Concordia 1

 

The Lakers would grab the first two goals of the game within the first four minutes. Late in the first period, Grace Dodgson would take advantage of a Laker penalty and grab a power-play goal. Kassidy Scheben and Mackenzie Smith would both earn assists on the play. 

Lake Superior would add another goal with 33 seconds left in the first. The Lakers would score twice more in the game both coming in the second period.

Lizzy Knappenberger made 37 saves throughout her 60 minutes of play. 

 

Game 2 -- Lake Superior 7, Concordia 0

 

The second game of the weekend saw the Cardinals fall 7-0 to the Lakers. Lake Superior would jump out to a 3-0 lead throughout the first period, adding the third in the final minute. 

LSS would add a fourth goal by being shorthanded in the 15th minute of the second period. 

The final period would yet again see three goals from the Lakers as they scored twice in the first minute and then once again with six minutes to go. 

Lizzy Knappenberger would once again start in goal and collect 21 saves through 42 minutes, while Molly Burks grabbed six saves in the final 18 minutes. 

 

Looking ahead the Cardinals will travel out to Missouri for three games, starting on Friday, October 29 when they go up against Maryville with a 4 PM start.
