Women's Hockey falls in high-scoring game two at Minnesota

(Minneapolis, MN) – Concordia women's hockey wrapped up their weekend series at Minnesota on Sunday morning. The game featured an explosion of offense by both teams, but the Cardinals fell by a final score of 8-5.

 

Eva Kingston played a complete game in net with 14 saves. Minnesota struck first on the powerplay, but Concordia responded just 22 seconds later when Mallory Collins scored with Makayla Steinmetz assisting. The Cardinals then took the lead on the powerplay when Collins notched her second marker with assists by Sara Kaczmarek and Eva Kingston. Minnesota tied the game 2-2, but Emily Greer scored a go-ahead goal on defense with Dakota Harmon drawing the helper. The Golden Gophers tied the match 3-3 heading to intermission.

Minnesota added three goals in the second period to take the lead. While the Cardinals received several powerplay chances, the team trailed 6-3 after two periods.

Both teams traded goals in the third period with Sienna Basile finding the back of the net off an assist by Mallory Collins. Grace Dodgson added an unassisted marker later in the frame. However, Minnesota took the contest by a final score of 8-5.

 

Concordia will return home on October 27 to host Michigan State as part of a 3-game series. Puck drop is at 8:30pm at Arctic Edge.
