Shore and Dodgson link up for five goals as Women's Hockey soars past Davenport 8-0

(Canton, MI) Concordia Women's Hockey returned home for a CCWHA matchup against Davenport Saturday evening. After squeaking out a shutout 1-0 win over the Panthers the day before, the Cardinals came out in full force, taking down the Panthers in an 8-0 shutout.

Rose Lennon saved 15 shots in her second straight shutout. Emma Shore and Grace Dodgson combined for five goals, each assisting on the other's goals. Grace Dodgson completed the hattrick to lead the team in goals for the game.

The game started off with the Cardinals putting on heavy pressure offensively, however they weren't able to beat the Panther goaltender at first. Nine minutes into the period Grace Dodgson was on the receiving end of a pass from Emma Shore to put Concordia on the board. Five minutes later Julie McLaughlin got the puck from a faceoff and sent a slap shot into the top shelf to increase the Cardinal advantage. The Cardinals were not finished though, as Grace Dodgson scored her second goal from Emma Shore to make it 3-0 at the first intermission.

The Cardinals had a power play opportunity in the second period, but couldn't convert. They then had another power play immediately following, which they took advantage of when Mallory Collins ripped one into the back of the net. Towards the end of the period Grace Dodgson flicked a pass to Emma Shore who went down to a knee to slap it in and make it 5-0.

Three minutes into the third, Grace Dodgson found the back of the net off of the pass from Emma Shore and Mallory Collins to complete the hattrick. Emma Shore then scored her second of the night with an assist from Grace Dodgson three minutes later. Later in the period Skylar Croft banked a pass to herself, then cut inside and buried a shot into the top left corner to make it an eight-goal advantage which is where the game finished.

The Cardinals will next be in action Friday, December 1st when they host Indiana Tech. Puck drop is set for 6:00 PM at the Arctic Edge.
