Women's Hockey falls in defensive battle at #7 Michigan

(Ann Arbor, MI) Concordia Women's Hockey went across town for a CCWHA showdown with the 7th ranked Michigan Wolverines. The Cardinal defense kept the game in a scoreless tie for the first two periods, but Michigan netted three goals in the final period to come away with the win.

Rose Lennon started between the pipes for Concordia and stopped 29 shots throughout the game. The Cardinals were held to just one shot on goal in the first period, but Lennon and the defense kept the Wolverines at bay, stopping 12 shots and killing a penalty to keep it even after one period of play.

The Cardinals successfully killed a pair of Michigan power play chances in the second period while allowing less shots on goal as well. Concordia had more going offensively, improving to 4 shots on goal, but neither team was able to break through keeping the game scoreless heading into the final period of play.

Both teams were more aggressive offensively in the third period, which led to three goals from the Wolverines. The Cardinals put 8 shots on goal, but none were able to find their way to the back of the net, resulting in a 3-0 victory for Michigan.

Concordia will round out their season with a road trip out east when they take on Massachusetts and Rhode Island next weekend.
