Women's Lacrosse overpowers Midland 15-2 in home opener

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia women's lacrosse hosted Midland on a sunny and warm Wednesday afternoon for their home opener. The Cardinals pulled away with a dominant offensive effort in a 15-2 win.

 

Michaela Ullery played a complete game in net with 10 saves. Tara Drinane opened scoring with an unassisted goal in the first minute. Midland briefly took a 2-1 lead, but shorthanded markers from Madisyn Fox and Savanna Schmidt gave CUAA a 3-2 lead after the first quarter.

Brynn O'Neil continued the momentum with a goal just 11 seconds into the second quarter assisted by McKenna VanZant. Madeline Turcotte and Madisyn Fox both chipped in a pair of goals as the Cardinals took an 8-2 lead into halftime.

 

Madeline Turcotte completed her hat trick to start the third quarter and added a fourth goal on a free position shot. Taylor Armstrong notched a shorthanded marker and Isabella Komarowski scored after scooping up a rebound and firing a shot into the net. CUAA led 12-2 after the third quarter.

McKenna VanZant tallied to open the fourth quarter. Isabella Komarowski notched her 2nd goal after a centering feed by Alicia Gutierrez. Madeline Turcotte recorded her fifth marker of the day on the powerplay and CUAA claimed the 15-2 victory.

 

Concordia will host #5 Keiser this Monday March 18th at 12pm.
