Women's Soccer earns 3-0 shutout over Rochester

(Rochester, MI) – Concordia women's soccer traveled to the Michigan Stars Sports Center on Saturday afternoon, facing off against Rochester to begin WHAC conference play.  The Cardinals came in 6-1 overall while the Warriors entered 0-4.  CUAA turned in a complete game and cruised to a 3-0 shutout to start conference play.

 

Anna Roman started in net for the Cardinals, playing about 70 minutes and making a save.  Concordia went on the attack early with two shots on goal from Danielle BrackenKendra Lewis rang a shot off the post and took three early corner kicks as the Cardinals continued to look for an opening. 

CUAA broke the shutout in the 31st minute when Bryce Calka scored off an assist from Allison LentzIsabel Stropich added an unassisted marker in the 40th minute off a feed from Amay Ciszewski.  Concordia led 2-0 at halftime.

The Cardinals added to their lead in the 55th minute when Kendra Lewis chipped in an unassisted goal.  Hayley Jacobson came in to play goalie in the 71st minute, completing the remainder of the game.  Concordia held strong on defense and claimed the 3-0 shutout as time expired.

 

Concordia will play next on Wednesday, September 29 when they travel to Madonna.  The game starts at 2pm.
