Cardinals fall to Crusaders in WHAC battle

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia University women's soccer team headed to Livonia, MI for a mid-week, midday matchup against the Crusaders of Madonna University. The Cardinals came into the match with a 7-1 record and a 1-0 record in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletics Conference play, while the Crusaders entered with a 7-0 overall record also with a 1-0 record in the WHAC. 

The Crusaders came out firing right away as they were able to score within the first three minutes of the game. Keeping the ball in the Cardinals defensive half of the field for the majority of the half. Madonna's second goal came in the 26th minute as they continued to keep the pressure up.

Taia Vega would score in the 42nd minute to make it a one-goal game before the half. The goal marked the first allowed by Madonna on the season. 

Coming out of the second half the Cardinals would yet again have to be solid on the defensive end as Madonna would win the half ten shots to none. The third MU goal came in the 73rd minute as they were able to beat goalie Anna Roman to the far side of the net. 

The Cards will return home to Cardinal Stadium on Friday, October 1 as they will host their first WHAC game against Cornerstone with the game beginning at 4 PM.
