(Southfield, MI) – Concordia women's soccer played under the lights at Lawrence Tech on Saturday evening for a WHAC contest. The Cardinals entered the contest 9-2-1 (3-1-1 WHAC) while the Blue Devils came into the game 4-7-1 (1-4 WHAC). The game featured tight defense on both sides and while CUAA had many solid chances, the match ended in a scoreless tie.
Anna Roman played a complete goal in net, making 8 saves. Danielle Bracken recorded the first shot on goal for the Cardinals and the team threatened later in the half with a pair of corner kicks from Megan Starkey. Concordia's best chance came when Allison Lentz drew a penalty shot after being pushed in the box by Lawrence Tech's goalie. However, the Blue Devil keeper made the save and the game was tied 0-0 at halftime.
Hazel Wright fired a shot on goal early in the second half. Kendra Lewis took a pair of corner kicks and Wright had another opportunity with a header that nearly made it in. Anna Roman remained sharp with a pair of saves late in the half, but the game headed to overtime still tied 0-0.
Anna Roman notched two saves in the first overtime to keep the game scoreless. The Cardinals had another key chance in the second overtime when Kendra Lewis took a corner kick and Kamryn Gerecke fired a shot with heavy traffic in front of the net. Concordia survived a late rush from Lawrence Tech in the final seconds as a shot sailed wide of the net and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Concordia will return home on Wednesday, October 20 when they host Indiana Tech at 12pm.
