Lena Korte wins 3rd WHAC Field Athlete of the Week in the Outdoor season

(Ann Arbor, MI) – The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced the Players of the Week for April 15-April 22 and Women's Track & Field athlete Lena Korte earned WHAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week after her performance at the Don Kleinow Invitational. 

 

Korte, a junior from Clinton, Michigan, competed in three different events over the weekend including Shot Put, where she took home first place, as well as Hammer Throw and Javelin, where she finished second. In the Shot Put, Korte hit an "A" NAIA Qualifying mark with a toss of 14.25 meters to win by 1.3 meters. In the Hammer Throw, Korte recorded a throw of 44.77 meters. The final event Korte competed in was Javelin who had a toss of 33.77 meters to claim second-place. 

 

This is the third time this season that Korte has earned WHAC Athlete of the Week in the Outdoor season. 

 

The Track & Field team will prepare for their sole home meet of the season as the CUAA Legacy Meet will be held at the Thunder Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26.
