(Lima, OH) - Concordia volleyball traveled to UNOH on Wednesday night for a WHAC conference game. The Cardinals entered 8-10 on the year (4-4 WHAC) while UNOH came in 4-14 (0-8 WHAC). CUAA moved their conference record above .500 as the team came away with a 3-1 win.
Breann June led the team with 13 kills. Abigail Austin had a team-high 39 assists. McKenzie Peters led the Cardinals with 24 digs. Madalyn Lisman finished first on the team with 3 blocks.
Set 1 – CUAA 25, UNOH 19
Kaitlin Veihl had Concordia's first kill in set 1. Breann June had two early kills as the Cardinals jumped out to a 10-5 lead. June added two more kills and Kaitlin Veihl chipped in a service ace. Madalyn Lisman made a block followed by a Kayla Peters kill as the Cardinals pulled away. Kayla Peters notched the winning kill for a 25-19 set 1 win.
Set 2 – CUAA 25, UNOH 21
Kaitlin Veihl made a spike to open set 2. The second set was closely contested with 17 tie scores throughout the match. After a late 21-21 tie, Concordia claimed the final 4 points with Tara Drinane clinching the set with a winning kill.
Set 3 – UNOH 25, CUAA 19
Kaitlin Veihl made a cross-court kill for Concordia's first set 3 point. After trailing 14-9, the Cardinals used a 5-0 run to tie the game with Breann June notching an ace and Kaitlin Veihl making back-to-back kills. Madalyn Lisman tied the set 16-16 with a block, but UNOH was able to use a 9-3 run to win set 3.
Set 4 – CUAA 25, UNOH 18
Kaitlin Veihl once again had the first kill in set 4. After an 8-8 tie, Claudia Grepke and Kaitlin Veihl made 2 kills apiece during a 4-0 run. The set would be tied 17-17 in the late stages, but the Cardinals finished off the match with an 8-1 run. Breann June sealed the game with the winning kill.
Concordia will play next Wednesday, October 13 when they travel to Aquinas at 7pm.
