Volleyball eliminated in WHAC tournament at Indiana Tech

(Fort Wayne, IN) – Concordia volleyball traveled to Indiana Tech for the first round of the WHAC conference tournament on Wednesday night. The Cardinals checked in as the #6 seed while the Warriors came in as the #3 seed. CUAA came in looking to pull off the first-round upset, but Indiana Tech claimed the win in straight sets.

 

Kayla Peters led Concordia with 12 kills. Abigail Austin had a team-high 24 assists. McKenzie Peters led the back end with 20 digs.

 

Set 1 – IT 25, CUAA 13

Kayla Peters opened scoring with a kill. Peters added two more early kills and an ace as the Cardinals battled to a 6-6 tie. Breann June chipped in three kills down the stretch, but the Warriors pulled away for a 25-13 set 1 win.

 

Set 2 – IT 25, CUAA 14

Kaitlin Veihl ended a 5-0 Warriors run with a kill to start a 3-0 CUAA run. Kayla Peters and Breann June both continued to pace the offense with strong hits and solid kills. However, Indiana Tech was able to build up a lead and secure the win in set 2.

 

Set 3 – IT 25, CUAA 19

Kayla Peters had first Cardinal kill in set 3 as the team looked to extend the game. Kaitlin Veihl added an ace and Tara Drinane notched two kills. Madalyn Lisman and Abigail Austin added kills, but Concordia found themselves facing game point late in the match. Breann June and Kayla Peters helped make a 3-0 run to extend the game, but Indiana Tech earned the final point to clinch the win.
