Several Cardinals claim WHAC Volleyball Honors

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their 2021 yearly honors on Thursday evening and the Concordia Cardinals received several honors for their efforts this season. 

 

Sophomore Kayla Peters was honored for the second time on the First Team All-Conference. Peters once again led the offensive attack for the Cardinals with 411 kills and 3.42 kills per set throughout the season. This was good enough for 4th and 3rd in the WHAC respectively. In addition, she was also a key defensive backline player adding in 372 digs through the season. 

 

Sophomore Abigail Austin was honored as a Second Team All-Conference honoree in her second season as a Cardinal. Austin was the top setter in the WHAC this season with a total of 1143 assists and 9.53 assists per set, which was second in the conference. 

 

Also, on Thursday WHAC All-Academic teams were named which involves being a junior in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Two Cardinals were named to the team including Emily Belinsky and Andrea Nelson

 

Ellen Stolz was also recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The freshman was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 

The last award the Cardinals received was for head coach Danielle Cook as she was named the WHAC Champions of Character coach for the 2021 season. This is the third time in her four seasons she has won the award.
