Volleyball downs Kuyper in straight sets

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia volleyball held their home opener on Wednesday night against Kuyper College.  The Cardinals turned in a solid performance and easily took the match in straight sets.

Kayla Peters led the team with 13 kills.  Abigail Austin and Madeline Vnuk tied for a team-high 12 assists.  McKenzie Peters secured the back end with 9 digs.

 

Set 1 – CUAA 25, KC 6

Abigail Austin started the game with an ace.  The Cardinals jumped out to a 10-2 lead, forcing a timeout after a block from Madalyn Lisman.  CUAA made a 14-0 run late in the game with kills from Kayla Peters and Madalyn Lisman along with three aces by Korie Fowler.  Kayla Peters notched the winning kill.

 

Set 2 – CUAA 25, KC 9

Emiline Wood had an ace during a 4-0 run in set 2.  Kayla Peters was strong with early kills and a service ace.  Claudia Grepke had two kills and Madeline Vnuk notched two aces down the stretch.  Kayla Peters had the winning kill in set 2.

 

Set 3 – CUAA 25, KC 10

CUAA started on a 7-0 run including 4 aces by Madeline VnukJessalyn Peavyhouse and Claudia Grepke remaining strong with kills and the Cardinals built a led again.  Madeline Vnuk served for an 8-0 run to close the game, making 3 more aces including the winning point.

 

Concordia will play next at the Florida College Tournament from September 1-2.
