WHAC announces Postseason Awards for Volleyball as several Cardinals received honors

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its yearly postseason awards for Women's Volleyball on Thursday. Several Concordia Cardinals student-athletes earned recognition this season following the conclusion of the regular season. 

 


CONFERENCE AWARDS

McKenzie Peters took home the program's first Libero of the Year award after leading the WHAC in digs this season with 608. 

 


FIRST TEAM

KAYLA PETERS | SR | MONROE, MICHIGAN

This is the third time in Kayla Peters career she has been named to the WHAC First Team after being named to the team in her Freshman and Sophomore seasons, she was also named to the Second Team last year. She was third in the WHAC this season in kills, recording 396 and a 3.38 kill-per-set ratio. 

 

MCKENZIE PETERS | SR | MONROE, MICHIGAN

Making her first appearance on an All-Conference team, McKenzie Peters earned the honor after leading the WHAC in digs with 608, while tallying the second most per set at 5.02. The senior also had a 94% reception percentage. 

 


SECOND TEAM

ABIGAIL AUSTIN | SR | BATTLE CREEK, MICHIGAN

Abigail Austin makes her second appearance of her career on the WHAC Second Team after being named to it in her Sophomore season. Austin was second in the WHAC this season with 1,191 assists while also tallying 10.18 per set. 

 


ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM

JULIANNA WEEMS | FR | GREENWOOD, INDIANA

Julianna Weems is the first Cardinal to appear on the All-Freshman team since 2020. Weems appeared in 26 matches this season and recorded 117 kills, which was fourth-most on the team. 

 


CHAMPION OF CHARACTER

Breann June was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The junior was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 


ALL-ACADEMIC

The WHAC announced their All-Academic teams, which involve being a sophomore in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The eleven Cardinals honored were Abigail Austin, Claudia Grepke, Julianna Helisek, Breann June, Madalyn Lisman, Andrea Nelson, Megan Neumann, Jessalyn Peavyhouse, Kayla Peters, Madison Phillips, and McKenzie Peters
