Kayla Peters and Abigail Austin named to NCCAA All-Regional First Team; McKenzie Peters Second Team

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced its regional volleyball awards on Friday and two Cardinals were recognized. Concordia Volleyball seniors Kayla Peters and Abigail Austin were all named to the NCCAA D1 Midwest All-Regional Team First Team, with McKenzie Peters making the Second Team.

 

Kayla Peters had yet another prolific year as a Cardinal, averaging 3.38 kills per set, which made her 9th in the NCCAA. Playing all over the court for the Cardinals, Peters was also third on the team with 390 digs, fourth in blocks with 39, second in aces with 26, and even third in assists with 33.

 

Abigail Austin was one of the most consistent setters in the nation, averaging 10.18 assists per set, which put her 3rd in the NCCAA. Austin was named NCCAA Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks in October this year when she averaged over 11 assists per set. The senior setter accumulated the second most digs on the team with 417 on the campaign while also contributing 78 kills and 24 aces.

 

McKenzie Peters anchored the back line as the libero for Concordia, averaging 5.02 digs per set, making her 7th in the NCCAA. Peters was named NCCAA Defensive Player of the Week on October 23rd after tallying 35 digs in Concordia's two wins the week prior. The senior had the second most assists on the team with 85 while tacking on 15 aces as well.

 

This is the third year in a row that Kayla Peters has been named to the NCCAA D1 Midwest All-Region Team, while this is Abigail Austin's second honor on the team, as she earned it in her sophomore season as well. 2023 is McKenzie Peters' first appearance on the team.
