Indiana Tech defeats Cardinals 8-0 in weekend series finale

(Fort Wayne, IN) – Concordia men's hockey wrapped up a weekend series against Indiana Tech on Saturday evening.  The Cardinals looked to avenge a close 3-1 loss at home the night before.  While CUAA kept the game close in the first period, a big second period lifted Indiana Tech to an 8-0 win.

Anthony Crews started in goal for Concordia, making 15 saves in his time in net.  The Cardinals received an early chance on the power-play with Abel Christians winning multiple faceoffs, but the game remained scoreless.  Indiana Tech scored with just over 2 minutes left in the period to take a 1-0 lead.

Anthony Crews made 6 saves in the first 4 minutes of the second period, but Indiana Tech began to find success on offense as the period went on.  Matthew Monendo came in at goalie with 6:18 remaining, making 14 saves in the game.  CUAA trailed 7-0 after the second period.

Concordia continued to generate chances in the third period, but the Warriors added another goal.  Despite a promising powerplay opportunity the shutout held and the Cardinals fell 8-0.

Concordia will play their next game on Wednesday, February 24 when they host Bowling Green at 6:30pm.
