Baseball completes sweep of Lourdes
 
 

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia baseball continued their series with Lourdes on Monday afternoon.  The Cardinals remained undefeated in conference play with two more victories. 

 

Game 1 – CUAA 11, Lourdes 2 (7 innings) 

Timothy Pomaville started on the mound, making 5 strikeouts in 6 innings.  Lourdes scored first in the 3rd, but the Cardinals answered with 4 runs in the bottom half.  Drew Fleming hit an RBI double scoring Kyle Hebner and Jordan Sherman crushed a 3-RBI double for the lead. 

In the 4th, Kyle Hebner smacked a 2-run homer.  Drew Fleming hit a solo home run in the 5th.  In the 6th, Kyle Hebner hit a 2-RBI double followed by solo shots from Aaron West and Drew Fleming. 

Kyle Winslow closed out the 7th inning on the mound to secure the win. 

 

Game 2 – CUAA 11, Lourdes 1 (7 innings) 

Drew Murphy started game 2, making 5 strikeouts in 5 innings.  Jimmy Wressel hit a 2-RBI double in the 1st to open scoring.  Tyler Wressel later reached on a fielder's choice for a 3-0 lead. 

Aaron West hit a 2-RBI double in the 2nd and then Drew Fleming crushed a 3-run homer.  Lourdes broke the shutout with a run in the 4th.   

In the 5th, Kyle Hebner hit an RBI double scoring Jarrett Batanian.  Aaron Brazelton reached home on a balk and Drew Fleming used an RBI single to score Hebner. 

Trey Acker and Evan Jasiak pitched in the 6th and 7th to close out the game and trigger the mercy rule. 

 

Concordia will travel to NCAA Division I Central Michigan this Wednesday at 3:30pm for an exhibition game before continuing conference play at UNOH on Friday.
