Football receives 11 All-America Awards from the NCCAA

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The National Christian College Athletic Association announced their Fall 2021 All-American teams on Friday afternoon. Joshua Schumacher's Cardinals placed 10 players between the First and Second Team after Concordia reached the NAIA Football Quarterfinal round with a 9-2 overall record and a share of the Mid-States Football Association Conference Championship. 

 

Defensive Player of the Year

 

Hunter Maynard

 

First Team All-Conference Offense

 

Luke Wilson - Tight End

 

A senior from Croswell, MI, Wilson had his best season as a Cardinal to close out his career. He recorded 44 receptions for 470 receiving yards which was good for 8th and 14th best in the NCCAA respectively, while also hauling in 4 touchdowns. This is Wilson's second time being honored on the first team. 

 

First Team All-Conference Defense

 

Andrew Foerster - Defensive Line

 

A senior from Swartz Creek, MI, Foerster pulled in another solid season with 9 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss which was second and first in the NCCAA respectively. This is the second straight season Forester has been named to the first team. 

 

Hunter Maynard - Linebacker

 

A senior from Plain City, OH, Maynard was a top defender yet again on the Cardinal defense recording 100 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 7.5 tackles for loss. His 100 tackles were third-most in the NCCAA this season. He was also named as the NCCAA Student-Athlete of the week for three consecutive weeks in October. This is Maynard's first selection on the NCCAA first team as he was named to the second team last season. 

 

Casey Rauch - Linebacker

 

A sophomore from Alexandria, KY, Rauch ended the season ranked fourth in the NCCAA in tackles with 98 total tackles while also being ranked 13th in tackles for loss with 10. In September he was named NCCAA Defense/Special teams player of the week. This is his first NCCAA First Team selection for defense. 

 

Gerald McHenry, Jr. - Defensive Back

 

A junior from Cleveland, OH, McHenry had a breakout season forcing 8 turnovers, 5 interceptions, and 3 fumbles, which puts him atop the NCCAA for most forced turnovers this season. This is his first NCCAA All-America selection. 

 

Casey Rauch - Punter

 

In addition to being honored for his defense, Rauch was also a standout punting the ball as he was top in the NCCAA for punting average at 44.9 yards per punt and also punts landing inside the 20 with 33. This is the first time Rauch has been named to the first team for his punting, as he was a second-team nominee last year.

 

 

Second Team All-Conference Offense

 

Parker Graham - Wide Receiver

 

A junior from Livonia, MI, Graham had his best season as a Cardinal hauling in 62 catches for 560 yards and 6 touchdowns which is 4th, 9th, and 7th throughout the NCCAA. This is the second time Graham has been honored on the NCCAA Second Team All-America. 

 

Nathan Roehr - Offensive Line

 

A junior from Allendale, MI, Roehr was a staple on the Cardinal offensive line that was top-10 in the NCCAA for rushing, passing, and total yards. This is his first NCCAA All-America selection. 

 

Will Dowling - Offensive Line

 

A sophomore from Oak Harbor, OH, Dowling was another solid piece on the Cardinal offensive line, starting all 11 games for the Cardinals while helping them to a top-6 offense in the league. This is the first time Dowling has been named to an NCCAA All-America team. 

 

Second Team All-Conference Defense

 

Aaron Rahn - Linebacker

 

A graduate senior from Holland, MI, Rahn's tackling efforts were second best in the NCCAA tallying 103 total tackles on the season while also grabbing 10 tackles for a loss. Rahn was a two-time NCCAA Student-Athlete of the week this season. Rahn was named to the All-NCCAA Second Team last season as well. 

 

 

NCCAA Scholar-Athletes

 

11 Cardinals earned NCCAA Scholar-Athlete as Zachary Belinsky, Shayne Erni, Andrew Foerster, Hunter Maynard, Jake Mlynarek, Nick Painter, Connor Scribner, John Mark Shutt, Corbin Stefanski, Andrew Wiemer, and Max Wood all earned honors.

 

In order to be named as a scholar-athlete, athletes must be junior or above in academic standing, complete one term at the university, and maintain a 3.40 GPA or over to qualify.
