(Ann Arbor, MI) After their completion of the regular season, the Concordia women's basketball program advanced to the WHAC Conference Tournament for the sixth year in a row where they hosted and defeated Lawrence Tech Thursday night. Now in the WHAC Semifinals, the Cardinals will host the Gray Wolves from Lourdes in Concordia's first appearance in the second round of the tournament since 2018. Saturday will also be the third meeting between the two sides in the last week.

About the Gray Wolves
Lourdes is coming off an upset against top seeded Rochester Thursday night. The win against Rochester was the first ever for the Gray Wolves in the WHAC tournament as Lourdes is competing in the event for just the second time in program history. The Gray Wolves were also the eighth seed in 2020, falling on the road 74-41 at Indiana Tech in the quarterfinals.
Sneaking into the 2021 conference tournament as the number eight seed with their 4-13 overall and 3-10 conference records, the Gray Wolves were on a six-game losing skid. Lourdes held WHAC regular season champ and top seeded Rochester to just 13.5% shooting in the first half and built a 34-14 halftime lead before holding on for a 66-60 victory on Thursday in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Mary Liedel and Kailani Broyles scored 16 points each while Leah Goodwin and Gabby Stover added 10 points.
Four different players are averaging eight or more points per game for the Gray Wolves in Mary Liedel (12.9), Kailani Broyles (9.4), Gabby Stover (8.2), and Shae Pedroza (8.2). Sara Semler leads the offense in assists with 3.8 per game. In his third season on the Lourdes bench, John Kenger sports an 27-51 (.346) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.

February 22nd, CUAA 71 - LU 66
In the Cardinals' first meeting with Lourdes, the Gray Wolves took a one point lead into halftime. J'may Simmons and Tris'styn Williams combined for 17 second half points to give Concordia the five point victory. Five players ended with double digit points as Simmons (20), Williams (13), and Katie Snow (11) led the Cardinals and Shae Pedroza (20) and Mary Leidel (19) paced the Gray Wolves.
February 23rd, CUAA 75 - LU 62
In the second meeting in as many days Lourdes jumped out to an early 19-3 lead over the Cardinals. A layup from Taylor Leatherman started an 8-0 run to lead the Cardinals back into the game, but CUAA trailed 24-13 after the first period. Concordia limited Lourdes to just four points in the second quarter to take the lead. Five made three pointers in the final period, including two from Samantha Dorn, gave the Cardinals the double-digit win. Williams, Simmons, and Dorn scored 17, 15, and 12 points respectively as Lourdes was led by Pedroza and Semler with 16 and 12 apiece.
