Men's Basketball upset bid falls short against Indiana Tech

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's basketball hosted Indiana Tech on Saturday afternoon in WHAC play.  The Cardinals jumped out to a fast start, but the Warriors eventually came back for a 78-73 win.

Zac Clark led the Cardinals with 25 points.  Kip French was a close second with 20 points.  Matt Lockhart had 11 points and a team-high 8 rebounds.

 

Zac Clark had the first Cardinal basket with a layup, starting a 14-0 run.  Kip French had a jumper, Clark added 7 more points, and Matt Lockhart capped the run with a triple.  Zac Clark continued his standout play with an inside basket and two more 3-pointers.  Ethan Young scored on the fast break for a 24-6 lead.

Indiana Tech used a 9-0 run to begin pulling closer.  Kip French had a jumper and a 3-pointer, but the Warriors continued tightening the game.  Matt Lockhart scored on a late drive to the basket and CUAA held a 33-32 lead at halftime.

 

Matt Lockhart scored a layup to start the second half.  Zackary Johnson drained a triple and Lockhart added free throws.  Kip French made a 3-pointer and Zac Clark continued solid inside play with two layups.  Clark drained four more free throws as the lead began to shift between the teams.

Zackary Johnson drained a triple and Colton Ritsema made free throws and a layup.  Kip French had 9 free throws down the stretch as the Cardinals tried to recover their advantage.  Trailing 76-71 with 14 seconds left, a steal by Zackary Johnson led to a Mason Canfield layup and a timeout.  However, Indiana Tech made their free throws to secure the hard-fought 78-73 win.

 

Concordia will play at Lawrence Tech this Monday at 7:30pm.
