Men's Golf finishes in 10th at Battle of the Brae

(Augusta, MI) - The Concordia Cardinal's Men's Golf team returned to play on Friday and Saturday as they participated in the Battle at the Brae in Augusta, Michigan. The event was held at Stoatin Brae Golf Course. 

 

The Cardinals finished the tournament in 10th place with a total score of 649. The score is the fifth-lowest in program history. 

 

DAY 1 - INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Five different Cardinals golfed on the first day of the tournament as they were led by Neil Heinlein scoring a 76 and in 20th place. Second on the team was Zakary Schroeder who recorded a score of 82. Next up was Brady Baldwin who tallied an 86 and then both Zam Barrett and Andrew Sweitzer scored an 88. 

 

The team score for day 1 was 332. 

 

DAY 2  - INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Neil Heinlein was the top scorer for the Cardinals after finishing with a 79 on the day to bring his total to 155, which is the 8th-lowest in program history. Next up was Zakary Schroeder with a day 2 score of 75, which brought his total to 157. Cam Barrett improved upon his score by nine strokes by shooting a 79 and a total score of 167. 

 

The final two golfers were Andrew Sweitzer and Brady Baldwin who would each shoot a 172 after scoring an 84 and 86 respectively. 

 

The team score for day 2 was 317, which is the 4th-lowest score in program history. 

 

TOURNAMENT RECAP

The top individual spot was Earl Williams from Bethel (IN) with a 139 overall score after shooting a 71 and 68 respectively. 

 

The top team spot was taken by Lawrence Tech who edged out Bethel by 1 stroke by shooting a 585 overall.

The Cardinals will travel to the Lourdes Invitational on Tuesday, April 9 for their next match.
