Women's Lacrosse overpowers Rochester Christian 19-1

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia women's lacrosse wrapped up regular season WHAC play with a home game against Rochester Christian. The Cardinals put forth a dominant performance and earned a 19-1 victory.

Michaela Ullery played a full game in net with two saves. Madeline Turcotte had a team-high of 10 shots, 6 draw controls, and 4 caused turnovers while tying Alana Mortimer with 3 ground balls.

 

 

Madisyn Fox opened scoring in the first quarter with Madeline Turcotte assisting. Turcotte then found the back of the net with a helper by Taylor Armstrong. Isabella Komarowski converted a free position shot and Savanna Schmidt added an unassisted goal. Destiny Daniels scored with an assist to Mariessa Zarazua who then tallied with Madeline Turcotte assisting. Taylor Armstrong topped off the quarter with a goal to put CUAA ahead 7-0.

In the second quarter, Madisyn Fox notched her second goal of the game with Savanna Schmidt drawing the helper. Megan Soop and Alana Mortimer tacked on unassisted goals as the Cardinals continued to control the game. CUAA led 10-0 at halftime.

 

Rochester Christian broke the shutout early in the third quarter, but Jessica Schmidt countered with an unassisted goal. Cecelia Gibson added two goals in the quarter for a 13-1 CUAA lead.

Cecelia Gibson tallied twice to start the fourth quarter, completing her hat trick and reaching a team-high of 4 goals. Madisyn Fox finished her hat trick and both Isabella Komarowski and Savanna Schmidt recorded their second markers. Madeline Turcotte capped the scoring with a spectacular behind-the-back shot, securing the 19-1 victory.

 

Concordia will host Bethel in the WHAC playoffs this Tuesday, April 16th, at a time to be announced soon.
