WHAC POSTSEASON AWARDS: Multiple Cardinals earn Conference Honors

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its yearly postseason awards for Women's Lacrosse on Wednesday afternoon. Multiple Cardinals were honored with the awards following the conclusion of their season where they recorded an 8-7 overall record, falling in the first round of the WHAC Tournament. 

 


FIRST TEAM

ALANA MORTIMER | JR | GEORGETOWN, ONTARIO

Mortimer is making her first appearance on the First-Team All-Conference after earning Second-Team her freshman year. Mortimer led the WHAC in caused turnovers this season with 43, as well as picking up 45 ground balls which was ninth-most in the conference this season. 

 


 


SECOND TEAM

MADELINE TURCOTTE | FR | HARTLAND, MICHIGAN

Turcotte was the team leader in goals, assists, and points on the year with 34 (14th in the WHAC), 18 (8th), and 52 (10th) respectively. In addition, she led the conference in draw controls with 98 as well as causing the third most turnovers with 35. 

 

 


CHAMPION OF CHARACTER

Megan Soop was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 

 


ALL-ACADEMIC

The WHAC announced their All-Academic teams, which involve being a sophomore in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The five Cardinals honored were Tara Drinane, Madisyn Fox, Isabella Komarowski, Alana Mortimer, and Megan Soop
