Korte takes second straight WHAC Field Athlete of the Week

(Ann Arbor, MI) – The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their weekly Players of the Week for Outdoor Track & Field and Concordia's Lena Korte took home the honor for the seventh time this year, after having won five in the Indoor season.

A junior from Clinton, Michigan, Korte won all three events she competed in this past Saturday at the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic. In shot put, Korte broke her own school record with a throw of 14.53 meters, the third farthest throw in the NAIA this season, and the top throw in the NCCAA. She also broke her own school record in hammer throw with 45.38 meters, making her fifth in the NCCAA. Her javelin throw of 35.21 meters is currently sixth in the NCCAA as well. Korte's shot put throw was an NAIA A standard, with all three throws good enough for NCCAA qualifying marks too.

The Track team will be back in action this Friday and Saturday when they head to the Tiffin Track Carnival.
