Men's Golf finishes up at the WHAC Fall Preview

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Men's Golf team took part in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Fall Preview on Monday and Tuesday at the Bedford Valley Golf Club in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

 

CUAA STROKE PLAY

The Cardinals finished in 9th place with a total score of 321. The score was the fifth-lowest score in program history. 

 

The two Cardinals at the top of the team leaderboard were Zakary Schroeder and Neil Heinlein, who would both shoot a 78, which was good enough for a tie for 22nd place in the standings. 

 

Dalton Steigler would be next up for Concordia as he shot an 81 and ended the day tied for 32nd. Travis Lysiak would shoot an 84, while Joshua Line shot an 86.

 

DAY 1 TOURNAMENT RECAP

Lawrence Tech took home the win on Day 1 after finishing 16 strokes ahead of Northwestern Ohio. Thomas Delmas and Benjamin Ellis both ended the day at the top of the leaderboard as they both would shoot a 70. 

 

CUAA MATCH PLAY

The Cardinals being in ninth place after the first day would see themselves go up against Rochester in the first round of match play as they were atop of the third bracket. In that match against Rochester, the Cardinals would come away with the win as the score was 3.5-1.5. The Cardinals would earn wins from Travis Lysiak, Dalton Steigler, and Neil Heinlein.

 

The next match for the Cardinals saw them go up against Aquinas to determine the bracket winner. The Cardinals would face tough competition as Aquinas would come away with the 5-0 win. 

 

DAY 2 TOURNAMENT RECAP

At the top of the first bracket, the winner was LTU as they pulled out a 4-1 win over Lourdes. In the semifinal matchup, LTU would beat Madonna 4-1, while Lourdes took a 3-2 win over UNOH.

 

NEXT UP

The Cardinals will head to Indiana for their next match as they compete at the Holy Cross Saints Classic at the Warren Golf Club in South Bend, IN on October 3rd and 4th.
