Men's Golf rounds out season at WHAC Championships

(Augusta, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Men's Golf team rounded out their season at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) meet on Saturday as they would wind up finishing in tenth place in the final match of the season. The Cardinals finished the three-round event after posting a score of 945. 

 

CUAA RESULTS

Neil Heinlein was the top finisher for the Cardinals at the event with a score of 229 and finishing in 23rd place. Zakary Schroeder finished three strokes back with a 232, while Chase Temple was at a 237. The final Cardinal to golf in all three rounds was Andrew Sweitzer with a 247. 

 

Joshua Line competed on the first day with a two-round score of 168 and Gibson Wilke competed in the final round only as he posted a score of 90. 

 

ENTERING THE RECORD BOOKS

The team as a whole would set the program record with a score of 945 which was nine strokes better than the previous record. 

 

Neil Heinlein also set the top score in program history for a three-round event with his total score of 229. 

 

Other scores entering the top 10 were Zakary Schroeder's and Chase Temple's three-round scores of 232 and 237 as they are the third and fifth-best in program history. Heinlein's score of 74 is tied for the eighth-best score and is the second time he has shot that in his career. 

 

TOURNAMENT RECAP

The conference tournament champion was crowned as the University of Northwestern Ohio narrowly took home the title with a score of 869 which was one stroke better than Lawrence Tech. 

 

Brandon Petzak from Madonna University took home the individual championship with a total three-round score of 211 which too was one stroke better than the second-place finisher.
