Women's Hockey Drops close match with Warriors, 2-0

(Jackson, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Women's Hockey made a change of scenery as they traveled to Jackson, Michigan as they look to avenge last night's loss to fellow Central Collegiate Women's Hockey Association (CCWHA) opponent Indiana Tech Warriors. Last night the Warriors would come away with an 11-2 victory. 

 

The Cardinals entered the match with a 3-5 record overall while being 2-5 in CCWHA play. The Indiana Tech Warriors came into the match with a 9-2 overall record and 6-1 in CCWHA play.

 

1st Period - Indiana Tech 0, Concordia 0

The two sides would go back and forth the entire period as neither team was able to get off a clean shot despite the Cardinals having ight on goal and the Warriors seven. Additionally, neither team was able to take advantage of their respective power play chances.

 

2nd Period - Indiana Tech 0, Concordia 0

Yet again both teams were able to get off their fair share of shots as the shots would be completely duplicated with the Cards at eight and Indiana Tech at seven. The Cardinals would though have a chance midway through the period with a 5-on-3 opportunity where they were able to get off a couple of shots, but to no avail as the score would remain 0-0 through 2. 

 

3rd Period - Indiana Tech 2, Concordia 0

The first ten minutes of the final period saw much of the same as neither team was able to score. The Cardinals though did have a couple of break away chances that would be saved by the IIT goalie. Indiana Tech would put up their first goal of the game with nine minutes remaining, while the final goal was with seven minutes left. 

 

The Cardinals were led in the match by Grace Dodgson with five shots, with Madelyne Petrie and Mallory Collins each tallied four shots. Amanda Crundwell would play the full 60 minutes in goal while saving 20 of the 22 shots she faced. 

 

The Cardinals will travel to southern Illinois for their next matchup at McKendree University in O'Fallen, IL in two weeks on November 12 and 13.
