Women's Hockey trounces Rhode Island, 8-1

(Chelsea, MI) Women's Hockey returned to the ice Sunday afternoon for a matchup against Rhode Island. The Cardinals honored senior captain Kassidy Scheben, who is graduating this month, in the pregame. Concordia put up four goals in the first period and tacked on three more in rapid succession in the third to go on to their largest win in program history, at seven points.

The Cardinals drew first blood less than a minute in with a Mallory Collins goal. Just over two minutes later Grace Dodgson added to the early Cardinal lead. Dakota Harmon netted her first goal as a Cardinal later in the first, followed by an Emma Shore snipe to the top right of the net.

Neither team was able to score in the second period, although the Cardinals were able to kill a pair of penalties.

The Cardinals rattled off three goals in under a matter of a minute in the third period. Grace Dodgson, Reagan Tolley, and Kassidy Scheben helped increase the Cardinal lead to seven. The Rams were able to score late in the third, but Madelyne Petrie responded with a goal a minute later to keep it at seven.

Amanda Crundwell was in between the pipes for the Cardinals, and tallied up 26 saves with one goal allowed.

The Cardinals will be off until the new year when they will host Michigan State on January 13th.
