The Concordia University athletic department named Matt Korte to the position of Director of Sports Information Director in the summer of 2021. Korte's promotion comes on the heels of two years spent as the Assistant Sports Information Director at CUAA. Korte will assist in the athletic department's marketing and communication efforts which supports 28 teams and over 500 student athletes.

Korte has been actively involved with the athletic department having served as a student worker during his four years as a Cardinal. Korte recently graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science degree as a Sport and Entertainment Business Major. Korte was also one of the first graduates completing the requirements as a Haab Business Scholar. The intense program allowed Korte to earn his Master of Business (MBA) simultaneously.

Korte maximized his educational experiences at Concordia by taking advantage of many experiential learning opportunities outside of the classroom as well. Korte was part of groups that went to the NBA All-Star Game, NCAA Final Four, NCAA College World Series, Rose Bowl and the Super Bowl. Korte's responsibilities varied at each event as Concordia's SEB program partnered with Prime Sport and Party Planners West to enhance the fan experience.

Despite a demanding academic schedule, Korte also managed to play a vital role in the marketing and communication efforts of the athletic department. As a sports information student worker, Korte generated content for the website and social media accounts, while also providing statistical and operational game day coverage.  Korte also provided assistance with fundraising initiatives such as the Cardinal Club, Cardinal Golf Classic and Hall of Fame Gala, and summer sports camps.

"Matt Korte is a tremendous addition to our athletic department," said CUAA Athletic Director, Lonnie Pries. "Matt was a part of Concordia's athletic department as a student worker and contributed in a variety of ways, especially on our game days.  We are excited to expand his role as our assistant sports information director and also recruiting support for a number of our programs.  Matt's work ethic and commitment to Concordia will be a blessing to our teams and student-athletes."

Korte's extensive experiences will continue to play a vital role in the overall growth of the department and community outreach initiatives. The department is currently going through a redesign on the athletic website which is planning to launch at the end of August. The department's social media initiatives will also continue to expand their reach and following among prospective student athletes, alumni, families and the community.

"I am extremely blessed to be able to stay at Concordia as Director of Sports Information," said Korte. "I'm confident my five years of experience transitioning from a student worker to Assistant SID at Concordia have made me well prepared for this new role. Concordia holds a special place in my heart and it is truly an honor to begin my career as a Cardinal."
