Matt Hunt enters his fourth season as an Assistant Coach for the Cardinals baseball program.

Hunt joined the Cardinals after spending the last four years (2017-2020) as the Head Baseball Coach at Fowlerville High School. Under his direction, FHS recorded a 75-29 record, winning four straight District Titles, and a League Championship. Prior to taking over at Fowlerville, Coach Hunt served as the lead Assistant and Third Base Coach for Cleary University in 2015 & 2016.

As a player Hunt prepped at Howell High School, where he currently holds the record for highest batting average in a season at HHS with a .545 avg. Coach Hunt began his collegiate career in 2009 at Concordia University where he played with Cardinals’ Head Coach, Zach Johnston. As a freshman at CUAA, Hunt hit .347 with a .458 OBP, which is tied for 7th all-time. After his freshman year, Coach Hunt transferred to Saginaw Valley State University where he would finish out his college career. Hunt earned All-Conference honors his junior and senior year at SVSU. Coach Hunt played one year of professional baseball for the Trinidad Triggers. He was selected to play in the 2013 Pecos League All Star game.

Coach Hunt currently resides in Howell with his wife Jamie and his daughter Luella.
