CUAA All-Girl team ends season as CCA National Champions

The Christian Cheerleaders of America (CCA) hosted their annual National Collegiate Championship on March 1st. Concordia's All-Girl competitive team finished first in the competitions Collegiate All-Girl Division. Their scores were also high enough to earn them the Grand Champion award, this is given to the team who scores the highest among all the different all-girl college divisions.

The Cards final score of 80.7 (out of 90) beat out previous three-time winner Shepherd University (NCAA DII) who placed second. The Cards entered finals in first place, but did not have their best executed routine with a stunt drop and a pyramid bobble. However, in finals, they managed to put it all together for a zero-deduction routine.

"This team has worked so hard and really wanted to make a name for our All-Girl Team. They have been scoring well all season. But, had yet to have that final perfect performance. It was remarkable to see it all come together in the final comp and performance of the season," says Spirit Director, Kate Edge. "I want to also shout out Desi Shotwell and Shelby Lee from our coaching staff who took the lead on coaching this team – none of what our all-girl program achieved this year would have happened without them."

In finals the Lady Cards received top scores in standing and running tumbling and a perfect 10 in the jump's category.

In addition, freshman Janiyah Hamler competed and won the College Jump Off competition and Kate Edge was awarded CCA's distinction as a Top Christian Coach.
