Women's Track and Field prepared for NCCAA Championships

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Women's Track and Field teams head to Cedarville University for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships this Friday and Saturday. 

 

The first NCCAA qualifier of the season was Sierra Stechebar in the High Jump event. She earned qualifying status at the Early Bird Open at Defiance College. She would win the event with a jump of 1.50 meters, which currently sits as the 14th-best jump in the NCCAA. Hannah Willow from Cedarville University has the top NCCAA mark with a 1.70-meter jump. 

 

The first of four qualifiers in the Weight Throw was Morgan Jenkins with a qualifying mark of 12.82 meters at the first meet of the season, the Early Bird Open. Her 12.82 mark is currently the 22nd-best mark in the NCCAA. The top weight throw of the NCCAA season came from Ricquel Williams with a toss of 15.73 meters. 

 

Emily Belinsky will be competing in three different events over the two days, including the 60-meter hurdles which she qualified for at the Doug Hansen Invitational in January. Belinsky qualified with a PR time of 10.15, which is the 20th fastest time in the NCCAA. Cayden Sharp from Greenville University enters the championship with the fastest time of 8.91 seconds. 

 

The first event in which Lena Korte will be competing this weekend will be the Shot Put throw. She qualified for the event at the SVSU Classic in early January with a throw of 11.77 meters. Since that meet, she has upped her distance to 13.11 meters which is the second-best in the NCCAA. Alecia Parker narrowly edged out Korte in the event with a throw of 13.13 meters. 

 

Korte will be the second Weight Thrower to compete at the Championships. She qualified for the Weight Throw at the SVSU Classic event as well with a mark of 13.98 meters. She most recently has thrown a mark of 14.45 meters which is the 9th-best NCCAA mark. 

 

Elsa Clausen was the fourth qualifier for the Cardinals at the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic with a throw of 12.27 meters which is the 28th-best mark in the NCCAA. 

 

The final thrower is Quinn Stefanski who would also qualify at the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic throwing a toss of 12.16 meters which is 31st in the NCCAA. 

 

The Cardinals will have four relays participate this weekend as well with teams in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR), the 4x800m race, the 4x400m race, and the 4x200 meter race. 

 

Taking part in the Distance Medley will be Alison Doerr, Chloe Evans, Amanda Fogo, and Mary Salem. The top time in the NCCAA this season was set by Malone University at 12:44.51. 

 

The 4x800 relay team sees Alison Doerr, Amanda Fogo, Madison Flamini, and Mary Salem all participate. Grace College (IN) currently holds the top time at 9:28.98. 

 

Running in the 4x400 meter relay will be Emily Belinsky, Chloe Evans, Mary Salem, and Sierra Stechebar. Campbellsville sits atop with a time of 4:04.96. 

 

The final relay team of the event is the 4x220 meter relay in Emily Belinsky, Chloe Evans, Hailey Stasiukinas, and Sierra Stechebar. Campbellsville also holds the top time in this relay with a time of 1:48.92.
