Women’s Indoor Track and Field finishes 15th at NCCAA Championships

Women’s Indoor Track and Field finishes 15th at NCCAA Championships

(Cedarville, OH) The Women's track and field team traveled to Cedarville, Ohio for the NCCAA Indoor National Championships on Friday, February 11 and Saturday, February 12. The team earned 6 points and finished in 15th place.

 

Lena Korte earned 3 points for the team in weight throw by finishing in sixth place with a throw of 14.64 meters which is a new personal record. Korte also earned the team a point in shot put with a throw of 12.35 meters, which was good enough for eighth place.

The other contributor to the team for points, was the 4 x 800 of Alison Doerr, Madisyn Flamini, Amanda Fogo and Mary Salem who finished in a time of 12:12.83, which earned two points in a seventh place finish.

 

Emily Belinsky competed in both the 200 meter dash and the 60 hurdles. Belinsky ran a new personal record in the 200 with a total time of 27.99 and finished in 17th place. She finished in 14th place in the 60 hurdles in a time of 10.45 seconds.

Sierra Stechebar competed in the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:07 and earned a 18th place finish. Stechebar also competed in high jump, however Stechebar did not record a height.

There were a few other Cardinals to compete individually as well. Elsa Clausen, Quinn Stefanski and Morgan Jenkins all competed in weight throw. Clausen led the group with a throw of 11.73 meters, followed by Stefanski with a throw of 10.35 meters and Jenkins with a distance of 9.96 meters.

The team also had three other relays compete as well. Fogo, Salem, Doerr and Chloe Evans competed on Friday in the Distance Medley Relay and finished in 10th place. Belinsky, Evans, Hailey Stausikinas and Stechebar competed in the 4 x 200 meter relay and finished in 11th place. The meet was capped off by Stechebar, Evans, Belinsky and Salem in the 4 x 400 meter relay, where they finished in 11th place.

 

The team will return with a full team effort on Friday, February 17 and Saturday, February 18 at Indiana Tech for the WHAC Championships.
