WHAC PREVIEW: Women's Track and Field prepped for WHAC Championships

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals women's track and field team is set for competition at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) meet this Friday and Saturday at Indiana Tech.

FIELD EVENTS

Over all of the field events, the Cardinals will see multiple athletes participating including the High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, and Weight Throw. All of the field events will be concluded on Friday except for the Triple Jump which will see the final on Saturday. 

 

The High Jump and Triple Jump event will feature Sierra Stechebar in the event. Stechebar's High Jump season-best is a 1.50m jump and the Triple Jump is a 9.71m jump both at the Defiance College Early Bird Open in December. 

 

The Long Jump event will also see one competitor as Hailey Stasiukinas will be the sole competitor. She tallied a season-best 4.55m jump also at the Early Bird Open. 

 

Five different Cardinals will take part in the Shot Put event as Elsa Clausen, Lena Korte, Aaliyah McIntosh, Quinn Stefanski, and Hailey Stasiukinas will participate. Clausen has a season-best mark of 10.06m at the Doug Hansen Open, while Korte's best throw was a 13.11m toss at the Mrs. G Invitational. McIntosh and Stefanski's best throws of the season were a 6.56m throw at the Early Bird Open and a 9.39m toss at the Mrs. G Invitational respectively. Stasiukinas, the final Cardinal shot putter, tallied a season-best 8.86m at the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic. 

 

Three of the Shot Put throwers will compete in the Weight Throw toss as well, with Clausen, Korte, and Stefanski will all throw. Clausen's best mark was a 12.27m at the Wide Track Classic. Korte had a 14.64m toss at the NCCAA Championships last weekend, while Stefanski's best throw was a 12.16m throw at the Wide Track Classic. 

 


TRACK EVENTS

The short-distance races will see competitors in the 60m, 60mh, 200m, and 400m races. CUAA will also see runners in the 600m run, 800m run, and 3,000m run. The team will have two relays participate as well with the 4x800m relay and the 4x400m relay. 

 

The 60m dash will see Hailey Stasiukinas running as her 8.92-second run at the Early Bird open was her season-best. 

 

Emily Belinsky will run the 60mh and the 200m. Her best time in the 200m was a 27.57-second run at the NCCAA Championships last weekend. She also will be running the 60-race with a qualifying time of 10.15 which was set at the Doug Hansen Invite.

 

Chloe Evans will run in the 400m dash with a time of 1:06.83 which was run at the Mrs. G Invite. 

 

Running in both the 600m and the 800m is Madisyn Flamini with qualifying times of 2:16.80 and 3:21.79 respectively. 

 

Three other CUAA runners will race in the 800m race Chloe Gunter, Maddy Ankoviak, and Mary Salem will all compete. Gunter ran a 2:55.34, while Salem's season-best time was 3:06.11. Ankoviak has not run the 800m race this season. 

 

The final individual race is the 3,000m as Amanda Fogo and Alison Doerr will both run. Fogo's season-best time was 13:02.26, while Doerr ran 13:26.17 earlier this season. 

 

Running in the 4x800m relay will be the team of Fogo, Doerr, Salem, and Gunter who ran a time of 12.12:83 at the NCCAA Championship last weekend. 

 

The final race of the WHAC Championship is the 4x400m relay which will see Belinski, Evans, Salem, and Stechebar all participate. They ran the race with a time of 4:24.03 also at the NCCAA Championship.
