(Ann Arbor, Mich.) The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon and Jimmy McKane (JR/Saint Johns, MI) was named the WHAC Pitcher of the Week.
McKane has emerged as the Cardinals ace so far this season improving his record to 5-0 in a dominating outing against Midland. In game one of the series on Sunday afternoon, McKane went 6.2 innings and nearly missed a no-hitter allowing 1 hit. McKane also recorded 6 strikeouts.
McKane has been productive for the Cardinals on the mound this season. Through 29 innings, McKane has totaled 24 strikeouts while limiting batters to an average of .136. McKane has an ERA of .91 as he has only allowed 3 earned runs.
The Cardinals are now 13-3 on the season and were receiving votes in the most recent NAIA Coaches' Poll Top 25. The Cardinals will be in action this weekend as they begin their spring break trip to Florida.
