(Ann Arbor, MI) - CUAA softball has been hard at work preparing to begin their 2025 campaign. The Cardinals will look to build off momentum from back-to-back NCCAA World Series titles. Head Coach Hailey Cavanagh will be entering her eighth year at the helm of the program.
2024 SEASON REVIEW
CUAA finished 43-16 with a 15-7 WHAC record last year. The Cardinals performed well in conference play including a sweep over rival Siena Heights. The team earned a bid to the NCCAA World Series and topped Southwestern Christian in the final.
2025 SCHEDULE OUTLOOK
The Cardinals will open their season on Friday, February 21st, with a doubleheader against Spring Arbor University at the Legacy Center in Brighton, Michigan.
From March 2nd to 9th, the team will travel to Tuscon, Arizona for a 13-game stretch. The Cardinals will hold their home opener on March 20thagainst Olivet Nazarene. WHAC play begins against rival Siena Heights and Indiana Tech at home. The Cardinals then travel to Cleary and finish the month by hosting University of Michigan-Dearborn.
CUAA travels to Aquinas to start the month of April. The Cardinals host Cornerstone and face Lawrence Tech and Lourdes on the road. The team hosts Rochester Christian and then travels to #6 Madonna University and University of Northwestern Ohio. The Cardinals return home to host Grace Christian, Defiance College and St. Francis (IL) to round out their regular season.
CUAA PERSONNEL
Graduate Student: Katie Tobias batted .383 with eight home runs.
Seniors: Payton Lewis had a .316 average with four home runs. Maddy Grueter batted .309 with four home runs. Bella Lee batted .299. Megan Martin had a .269 batting average. Morgan Scott finished with a .216 average. Lauryn Rhodea had a hit and scored two runs. Paige Anderson threw 136 innings with 95 strikeouts. Elyse Brittain batted .261 with a homerun and threw 24 innings with 14 strikeouts. Hannah Duchene pitched 14.2 innings with 12 strikeouts. Kendall Kahl will bring experienced pitching depth.
Juniors: Faith Cramton had a .355 average with two home runs. Summer Brady batted .186 with four stolen bases. Brooklin Cox scored eight runs and showed speed as a pinch runner. Emma Thompson had four hits while pitching one inning.
Sophomores: Kaleigh McClelland batted .300 last year. Madalyne Wieneke finished with a .222 average. Emmi Liptow had a .429 average in seven at-bats.
