Hines, Fogo run to Personal Records at Jeff Drenth Memorial Cross Country Race

(Mount Pleasant, MI) - The Women's Cross-Country team traveled to Shepherd, Michigan, on Friday, August 30, for the Jeff Drenth Memorial 5k, which was hosted by Central Michigan University.

Macee Ripke (Sophomore; Napoleon, OH) picked up where she left off the 2023 cross-country season by being the top runner for the Cardinals. Ripke finished the race in a time of 22:25. Michaela Kurth (Sophomore; Ypsilanti, MI) finished 30 seconds behind in 22:55. Amanda Fogo (Junior; Fowlerville, MI) ran a personal best effort in 23:02 to be the third Cardinal across the line.

The Cardinals then had three girls finish within 13 seconds of each other, as Alison Dorr (Junior; Grand Haven, MI) finished in 24:23, followed by Chloe Gunter (Senior; Monroe, MI) and Elissa Hines (Sophomore; Ypsilanti, MI) Hines ran a career-best time and improved by over two minutes.

The Cardinals had Rachael Byers (Sophomore, Plymouth, MI), Grace Finley (Sophomore, Monroe, MI) and Jenna Oberly (Sophomore; Dearborn, MI). Byers led the group by finishing in 25:33, Finley in 25:48 and Oberly in 26:04.

The Cardinals will be back in action on Friday, September 13 when they will travel to Wayne State University's Warrior Challenge at Willow Metro Park.
