(Ann Arbor, MI) - The 72nd edition of the Concordia Invitational Tournament (CIT) will return to Ann Arbor for the first time since 2019. The tournament is scheduled for January 24th and 25th of 2025. Started in 1951 by Coach Eldon "Pete" Pederson of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, CIT is one of the longest running basketball tournaments in the nation. The 2025 iteration of the tournament will serve as the final CIT for Wisconsin and Ann Arbor as announced by CUWAA President Erik Ankerberg December 20th, 2023. Ann Arbor will be the host for the sixth and final time in its history. The tournament features men's and women's basketball, cheer, and dance competitions.
The Ann Arbor basketball programs were brought into the tournament in 2002 following Concordia-Saint Paul's departure after the 2001 tournament. The Cardinals have won the men's basketball trophy four times (2006, 2007, 2015, and 2018) and the women's basketball trophy twice (2011 and 2013). 2018 served as the first year for the cheer and dance competitions. Concordia Ann Arbor has won every year of the cheer competition (2018, 2019, 2020, 2023, and 2024) and dance has taken home the trophy twice (2019 and 2024).
