(Saginaw, MI) - The Women's Track and Field team opened their indoor season at Saginaw Valley State University as part of the Holiday Open. The women had three athletes earn NCAA qualifying marks and one collegiate debut.
Quinn Stefanski (Senior; Munger,MI) and Morgan Jenkins (Junior; Cleveland, OH) earned NCCAA qualifying marks in the weight throw. Stefanski led the way with a throw of 13.13 meters. Jenkins throw was a distance of 12.72 meters. Maya Freeman (Sophomore; Port Huron, MI) also competed in weight throw and finished with a distance of 12.07 meters.
In shot put, Stefanski led the way over Freeman and Hailey Stasiukinas (Senior; Wyoming, MI). Stefanski had a throw of 10.24 meters. While Freeman and Stasiukinas had throws of 9.70 and 8.89 meters.
On the track, Jayde Ullenbruch (Sophomore; Port Huron, MI) ran to an NCCAA qualifying mark in the 60-meter hurdles. She finished with a time of 9.58 seconds, just off of her school record. Ullenbruch also ran in the 200-meter dash. She finished with a time of 28.21 seconds.
Freshman Emma Puwal (Utica, MI) made her Cardinals debut in the 200- and 400-meter dash with opening times of 28.50 and 1:05.97.
The team will take a break for the holidays. They will return on January 11 at Aquinas College for the Jon Flamino Classic.
