Emily Haas and Beth Kuhl join Concordia as Assistant Athletic Trainers

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia University Ann Arbor (CUAA) athletic department announces the hiring of Emily Haas and Beth Kuhl as Assistant Athletic Trainers. Haas and Kuhl will begin their employment with the CUAA athletic training staff immediately.

Emily Haas comes to Concordia from Adrian College where she recently graduated with a masters degree in Athletic Training. During her time at Adrian, Haas worked with a variety of sports to provide direct coverage, treatments, and rehabilitation.

"I'm excited to have Emily join our staff and be working with us," said Head Athletic Trainer Peter Benjamin. "Emily stood out in her application and interest for Concordia. She comes with a good education and playing collegiate sports which will help her connect and treat her athletes in a positive way. I'm grateful for her application and I'm looking forward to working with her."

Haas completed her undergraduate studies at Adrian College with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2020. Throughout her time at Adrian, Emily was a member of the Women's Volleyball team and served as an athletic trainer for many teams over several semesters. Outside of Adrian College, Haas provided athletic training services for Siena Heights University and Whitmer High School in Toledo for a semester each. Other clinical and work opportunities for Haas included Promedica Physicians Orthopedic Surgery, Promedica Physicians Family Medicine & Sports Medicine, and Sunrise Senior Living in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.

"I am very excited to be a part of the staff here at Concordia," said Haas. "Everyone has been so welcoming, it's hard not to feel like you are at home. The family atmosphere really drew me in and I knew that this would be a great place for me to start my career as an Athletic Trainer!"

As an assistant athletic trainer for the CUAA athletic department, Haas will be responsible for providing coverage to the following teams; Football, Men's Hockey, and Outdoor Track & Field.

Beth Kuhl will be joining Concordia as an assistant athletic trainer after working with Concordia athletics in the spring of 2021, helping cover Baseball, Football, Men's Soccer, and Men's Lacrosse.

"It is great to be able to add Beth as a full time AT for our department," said Head Athletic Trainer Peter Benjamin. "She was very helpful in the Spring of 2021 and did a great job being docile and professional with different teams, coaches and injuries. I was glad to see her application and interest in being here full time and I'm excited to see her work with her teams and make an impact on Concordia athletics."

Kuhl completed her undergraduate studies at Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2015. She has continued her studies at Concordia University Chicago where she is expected to graduate this August with a Master of Applied Exercise Science. Kuhl has a vast array of athletic training experience from many places including Eastern Michigan, Pioneer High School, ATI Physical Therapy, Legacy Center, USTA 16 and 18 Boys Tennis National Championship, Allegan High School, and Hillsdale College. Most recently, Kuhl has been working at Gym America helping athletes return to sport post-operation.

"Concordia is a great opportunity for me to grow in my athletic training career," said Kuhl. "I love working in athletics and helping athletes succeed in their sport. I grew up in the area playing sports my whole life. I played soccer at an NAIA school and coming back to work at another NAIA school as an athletic trainer is exciting. Having worked at Concordia this past spring I was able to work with several different sports and enjoyed my time working with the athletic training staff, athletes and coaches. When the position opened up I was excited for the potential opportunity to work at Concordia again."

As an assistant athletic trainer for the CUAA athletic department, Kuhl will be responsible for providing coverage to the following teams; Women's Soccer, Women's Hockey, Baseball, and Bowling.

"We are very excited to have Emily and Beth join the Cardinal Family," said Athletic Director Lonnie Pries. "They both are committed to serving our student athletes and keeping them healthy and safe during their time here at Concordia."
