Joe Loria named WHAC Defensive Player of the Week

The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon and freshman goalie, Joe Loria has been named the men's lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. This award comes on the heels of the Cardinals first win of the season on Saturday when the team defeated Clarke University 13-2 at Cardinal Stadium.

Loria has made a significant and immediate impact in his short time as a Cardinal. Loria has started both games for the Cardinals so far and has totaled 30 saves. Between the pipes on Saturday afternoon, Loria collected 13 saves and recorded a saves percentage of 86%. He only allowed two goals leading to a commanding 13-2 victory for the Cardinals.

This is the first time a Cardinal has been honored this season by the WHAC and first in Loria's short career.

The Cardinals look to increase their win total this week as they travel south to face Montreat (Friday) and Cumberlands (Saturday) Both games will be played University of Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. The Cardinals next home game will be on Monday, March 9th vs. Saint Ambrose at 1pm as part of a double header with the women's team.
