Men's Tennis splits pair of WHAC matches

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Concordia Men's Tennis Team took to their home court for the first time this spring for a pair of conference matches. On Monday, the Cardinals earned a 4-3 win over Lourdes, and on Tuesday fell short to Indiana Tech, 5-2.

 

Concordia 4, Lourdes 3

The Cardinals earned the doubles point, sweeping the Gray Wolves. Justin Pedro and Jan Lloveras Freix swept their opponents in the top match, 6-0. Kenji London and Connor Rogus won a close battle with the Gray Wolves in the second slot, winning 7-6 (8-6). Zachary Pedro and Tyler Koehn won the third match by default.

 

On the singles side, Zachary Pedro picked up a big point for the Cardinals, sweeping his opponent in the fourth match. Jaxon Cain and Kaden Salts earned Concordia's final two points by default. Justin Pedro fell in the top match, but not before stealing a game from his Lourdes counterpart. Jan Lloveras Freix and Connor Rogus were blanked in the second and third slots respectively.

 

Concordia 2, Indiana Tech 5

Indiana Tech won the doubles point, leaving the match with two of the three doubles matchups. Jan Lloveras Freix and Justin Pedro were shutout in the top match, with Kenji London and Connor Rogus getting the same result in the second slot. Jaxon Cain and Zachary Pedro won the third match by default.

 

Concordia's two points in the team match came from Tyler Koehn and Hunter Fletcher who won by default in the fifth and sixth slots respectively. Jan Lloveras Freix took the most games from Indiana Tech, winning two games before ultimately falling to his Warrior opponent. In the third and fourth matches Kenji London and Jaxon Cain each took a game. Justin Pedro was then swept in the top singles match.

 

 

The Cardinals will be on the road this Saturday, March 29th for a conference battle against the Aquinas Saints. First serve is set for 12:30 PM in Grand Rapids.
