(Grand Rapids, MI) The Concordia University Men's Tennis team traveled to the Grand Rapids Racquet & Fitness courts to face the Aquinas College Saints on Saturday. The Cardinals would battle in both the single and double matches but would come up short, losing to the Saints 7-0.
In the first doubles match of the day, the Cardinals sent out Justin Pedro and Zachary Pedro to face Tom Gangov and Dominick Marinelli from the Saints. The Pedro duo would pick up one game in the match but would lose 6-1. In the second doubles match, Jan Lloveras Freix and Jaxon Cain picked up two games against Carlota Arzabe and Josh Chlebek from the Saints but lost 6-2. In the third doubles match, Kaden Salts and Connor Rogus won one game against Nick Lourido and Hannah Lourido of the Saints but ultimately lost 6-1 in the match.
In the single matches, J. Pedro picked up a game in each set but ultimately lost to Gangov 6-1 in each. Lloveras Freix won three games in each set of the second singles match against N. Lourido but dropped both sets 6-3. The third singles match saw Rogus facing off against Arzabe, but Rogus lost both sets 6-0. Z. Pedro won one game in the fourth singles match against Dominic Maslanka, losing 6-1 in each. Cain won one game in the first set and two games in the second set against Marinelli in the fifth singles match, but Cain lost both 6-1 and 6-2. In the final singles match, Salts won one game in the first set and two games in the second set against Chlebek but lost each set 6-1 and 6-2.
The Cardinals will travel to the Premier Tennis Club in Grandville, MI, to face Grace Christian on Saturday, April 5th. The first match will start at 10 AM.
