Women's Cross Country opens season with tough test at Mike Baumer Classic

(Fairborn, OH) The Women's Cross Country team opened their 2022 season at the Mike Baumer XC Classic in Fairborn, Ohio on Friday, September 2.

The team faced a very talented field, that was stacked with NCAA Division 1 competition, which made it a very fast and competitive race. The Women's team had a partial team effort with Chloe Gunter, Amanda Fogo, Alison Doerr and Madisyn Flamini taking to the starting line.

The team was led by freshman Amanda Fogo, who quickly showed improvement in college by running her fastest ever 5k at 23:12. Gunter would be the second one to finish for the Cardinals with a time of 23:46. Doerr was the final member that crossed the finish line with a time of 26:15.

"We knew this was going to be a tough meet to compete in it," said Head Coach Dominic Santina. "This was a good evaluation of where our training is coming out of summer and into the fall.  We have a little bit of time to rest up and get back to work with training before our next meet."

The women will be back in action on Saturday, September 17 at the Raider-Knight Invite hosted by Grand Rapids Community College.
