Concordia announces 2023 Hall of Fame Inductees

(Ann Arbor, MI) - On Friday, May 5th Concordia University Ann Arbor Athletics will host its Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. This year will see four individuals become a part of the Concordia Athletics Hall of Fame as the 12th class of inductees. 

"We are very excited to induct this year's Hall of Fame class into the Concordia University Athletic Hall of Fame," said Athletic Director Lonnie Pries "Our inductees achieved numerous accomplishments, all in different athletic programs here at CUAA. It will be a special evening for these alumni as we welcome them back to campus in order to honor their very special contributions to our university."

This year's hall of fame class includes four individuals whose efforts and achievements have significantly impacted Concordia athletics on and off the playing field.

 

  • Alex Hoover ('08) - Baseball - Hoover was the 2008 WHAC Player of the Year, is a two-time member of the WHAC All-Conference Team and has the 6th-highest batting average in a season.

  • Kelly (Kennedy) Collins ('98) - Softball - Kennedy was a two-time NAIA All-Region Player and the 1998 WHAC Player of the Year. She was a WHAC First-Team All-Conference member while owning the 3rd-highest career batting average and having the 7th-most strikeouts in a career. 

  • Tammy Sabourin ('87) - Women's Basketball / Track & Field - Sabourin currently has three top-10 career records for the basketball team, including 3rd in points per game, 5th in field goals made, and 8th in career points. She was also an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete in her final season while being a two-sport athlete

  • Takari Johnson ('14) - Football - The first Football member in the Hall of Fame, Johnson was named an NAIA All-American in 2014. He is also a two-time MSFA Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time MSFA All-Conference member. He holds multiple defensive records including tackles, tackles for loss, sacks, and forced fumbles in a career.

 

The ceremony will take place on Friday, May 5th in the Black Box of the Kreft Fine Arts Center at 5:00 PM. Dinner is included and tickets are $35 a person. Sales will end Friday, April 21st.
