CSC names 5 Men's Cardinals to At-Large All-District team

(Ann Arbor, MI)  —  The nominations for the College Sports Communicators (CSC) All-District Academic Awards are in for both the men's. For the men's programs, Brendan Gossman, Cameron Dixon, Jesus Paulido, Korey Reichard, and Luke Hovarter all qualified and were nominated for the CSC All-District awards.

 

Gossman, who is a senior on the men's bowling team, has had a storied career in a Cardinal uniform and has carried a 3.63 GPA throughout his tenure at Concordia.

 

Reichard, who also comes in as a senior on the men's bowling team, has already collected a number of accolades in his years at Concordia while boasting a 3.89 GPA as a Cardinal.

 

Dixon played a vital role on the men's lacrosse team this season as they were able to advance to the first round of the NAIA National Invite. He has also been an excellent student with a 3.59 GPA through his sophomore year. 

 

Hovarter contributed to the men's lacrosse team and in the classroom, as his efforts on the field helped Concordia to make a deep in the conference playoffs and his efforts in the classroom have led him to a 3.74 GPA during his time as a Cardinal.

 

Paulido is a sophomore on the Cardinals cheer team and has been a standout student during his time at Concordia, earning a 3.81 GPA so far. He was also a runner-up at the NAIA National Cheer Competition.

 

The 2023 Academic All-District At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

 

College Sport Communicators is a 3,200+ member national association for strategic, creative, and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. The organization was previously known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and was changed to its new name in August of 2022.

 

Nominees for the All-District team must have participated in at least 50% of the team's matches throughout the season while also maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50. The student-athlete must also complete one full calendar year at the institution and reach sophomore athletic eligibility in order to qualify for the honor.

 

All five Cardinals will now be placed on the ballot for CSC All-America consideration with those teams being released on June 21st.
